The SOCC team is proud of our progress
On behalf of the Students of Colour Collective, I am pleased to welcome you into a new year. So far, we have hit each milestone we aimed for in 2019. From launching our website, creating institutional infrastructure, to successfully advocating for a room change, we have proven ourselves as dreamers and doers. 2019 was a successful year for SOCC. We set goals, and met them. Some of our highlights were:
Successfully advocating for SOCC's room change to a bigger space. - Our efforts and the support of our allies resulted in SOCC's move to Rooms SUB B122 and B120, allowing us greater capacity to do our work.
Launch of PULSE 2019 with spoken word. performances, and live music by indigenous artists.
Creation of a professional website, and digital zine archive at soccollective.com
Successful Cultural Appropriation Movie Night.
Bi-monthly collective dinners.
Our VISION 2020 includes:
Running of referendum question to increase SOCC's allocated student fee levy funding from 70cents per full time student (currently), to add an additional $1 for full time students.
Successful Black History Month Programming.
Launch of PULSE 2020.
Running collaborative events with other advocacy groups, and community organizations.
Furniture purchase, and upgrades to room design.
Consolidating organizational constitution.
