Our Team
Coordinator - Milo
Hello everyone, my name is Milo (they/them). I am a queer mixed Filipino who has been living on the unceded territory of the lək̓ʷəŋən People, known today as the Esquimalt and Songhees Nations for the last seven years; and am in solidarity with Indigenous peoples locally and globally in their fight for land back from colonial forces.
I am happy to be a community organizer, artist, and friend. I organize with Students and Workers United (SWU) and BAYAN Canada. I am thankful to organize with the goal of ending imperialism, capitalism, and feudalism in the Philippines and consequently pushing to end these systems globally. Feel free to ask me about any of the above!
Community is one of my core values and I am excited to work alongside members of SOCC to continue creating a supportive, empowering, and creative community space that advocates for better conditions for BIPOC students. My role as coordinator deals with day to day tasks and I welcome folks to swing by the SOCC office to say hello and discuss their ideas for SOCC and advocacy.
Ingat palagi/take care always

As a Person of Color, I understand the importance of fostering a safe and accessible campus for all of its students, and am dedicated to doing my part in maintaining and flourishing the diverse BIPOC community at UVIC, while creating more space to celebrate BIPOC joy.

Hi! My name is Gabby and I use she/her pronouns. I’m studying sociology and applied ethics at UVic. I’m a Filipina settler and moved to so-called Canada when I was 3 years old, and am grateful to be able to reside on the traditional and unceded lands of the Lekwungen and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples. In my free time I enjoy thrifting, hiking, and making zines with friends and the folks at Sliced Mango Collective.
I want to make sure SOCC gives every member of our community a chance to have their voices heard or provide input, so please don’t hesitate to reach out!
Finance Representative - Hana Kim
My name is Hana Kim (she/her) and I am SOCC’s student finance representative. I am a second generation Korean immigrant, growing up in the rural north of Vancouver Island on the traditional territories of the mowachaht/muchalaht First Nations. I have lived here in Victoria as an uninvited guest on the traditional unceded territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən and W̱SÁNEĆ peoples for 3 years now. I am currently a third-year biology student, and my passions include women’s health, anti-racism, and honouring my heritage through practicing and learning about my culture. As the finance representative I am dedicated to transparency, equity, and serving the wonderfully diverse community we have here at UVic.
